My name is Beverly, and I will be your instructor for the Pilates Teacher Training program at Reform & Ride! Here is a little about me:
Let’s just say, fitness and wellness have been my jam for over 25 years now! It all started with a passion for movement and helping people feel their best. Pilates quickly became my obsession – the focus on control, strength, and flexibility resonated deeply with me. So, I dove headfirst, grabbing my initial Pilates certification and then going all in with a Master’s in Pilates from a true-blue Classical school.
Here’s the thing: the deeper I went, the more I noticed a strange divide within the Pilates world. There were camps – Classical Pilates on one side, Contemporary Pilates on the other, and Fitness Pilates somewhere in between. It felt like everyone was fighting over who had the “right” way to do things. These approaches, while different, are all fantastic tools in a Pilates instructor’s toolbox. I wanted to bridge the gap, to show how they all work together beautifully.
The Pilates Sports Center (PSC)’s Teacher Training isn’t just about the movements, though those are crucial. I’m here to teach you the “how-to” of teaching. We’ll delve into the art of reading bodies, understanding when to pull from the Classical repertoire or introduce a Contemporary twist or just focus on the fitness aspect. You’ll learn to adapt exercises to any client, whether they’re a seasoned athlete, a complete newbie, or someone with limitations. From private sessions to group classes with a mix of abilities, you’ll be equipped to handle it all.
